For our family celebration of Mother's Day we all, 15 of us, woke up around 5am and headed down to the Valley to pick peaches in Queen Creek. The temps were hot - around 90 by 9am so it was important we did the hard work early in the day. The trees were dripping with ripe fruit, all within a arms reach. We quickly picked 3 boxes for our family and then headed to cooler spaces. We spent lunch at Arizona's only olive grower where they grow and press their own extra-virgin olive oil. Note: we learned that anything less than first cold pressed extra virgin olive oil is processed with bleach and chemicals. Yuck! And - don't eat black olives as they are cured in lye (also known as Drano). Double Yuck!
The kids were great though Sam melted pretty quick in the sun so we were on our way home around 1pm. They were happy to be home and funny enough didn't squeak at all at bedtime. :)
