We embarked on the journey on Sunday morning after a short night. Sam slept with Sophie at Grandma's house and Faith spent the night with Perrin. All the children were so excited to be on the road the next morning so they were all up by 6am. We got moving down the road by 7:30am, which was a good thing as it took us 8 hours to get to Oceanside. We took a beautiful route through the mountains and Palm Desert, but it took a few more hours than expected. The children were great the whole trip with very few, "Are we there yet" statements. Perrin did let one out while we were just miles from Prescott. Love her.
Once in Oceanside we had dinner, cleaned up and headed to the ocean. The RV site we're in is just 1/8th of a mile to the ocean, all on a path that the kids can ride their bikes on. It's great. The RV park has a pool, air hockey and lots of space for the kids to ride their bikes. They spent the first day at the beach messing around and going through 2 sets of clothes. After lunch they headed to the pool with Grandma while Perrin and I went in search of a Costco and Trader Joe's. (I love Trader Joe's) It felt like summer at the beach as the kids played and Balin and I hung out and watched. I have to say though when we take all 4 of the kids anywhere with just Balin and I, people look at us with mouths open. They wonder how can we have so many kids so close together? Thank goodness they're not all ours - two is more than enough for us.
Today we headed to Legoland to enjoy all it's rides and legos. The kids were so excited but soon tired. I don't think we got through the front gate before Perrin was asking to be picked up. Faith, Sophie and Sam were all little troopers and were able to march all through the park. We weren't there more than one ride before it was time for us to get lunch - the lines were a little long at the beginning. After lunch we found the place where the rides were only 10 minute wait times and off we went. We made it only through a portion of the park so we are planning on going back for a couple of hours each day - Costco had 3 month passes for $10 less than the regular one-day admission pass.
