Kindergarten at the Pumpkin Patch

We had a great day at the pumpkin patch - actually it was more like a working farm that the kids got to explore and it was great!  Sam was very excited to go to the farm with all his friends.  We rode the hay wagon, pet lots of animals, learned about different kinds of horses, talked about conservationist farming, picked pumpkins (that they grew on site) went through corn maze and rode a carousel.  Whew!  It was great fun!

Sam is loving his school and when asked if he wants to go to the great school down the street he replies with a hearty "NO WAY!  SKYVIEW is the only school I want to go to!"  Fine with me as he's doing great there and making all sorts of wonderful friends.

The other day I overheard a conversation he had with Perrin.  Sam said that he wasn't feeling part of Perrin's community when she has her friends over. (We have a house rule of no exclusion)  Perrin said that she invited him to play with them and Sam replied that though she invited him into their play, they didn't talk to him and that made him feel like he wasn't part of their community.  Perrin responded by saying next time she'll try more to include him and talk to him.  Boy, did that ever warm my heart.  My 6 year old was able to communicate what he felt and why he felt that.  Yeah - he can continue to attend Skyview.  Maybe I could enroll myself too!
