So cabin #4 hadn't seen a whole lotta love in the past 10 years. In fact I think once the addition was built in '83, it was coasting down hill....fast. The paint was bad, the generator was broken, the interior was...just ugly. The electric wiring was scary at best. Yes, it was a house in need. I was hoping to just paint and clean things up, but that's not what happened. We had our huge work party and gutted the place and slowly dear Brett is putting things back in place. We've also called upon a friend who does this for a living and he's stepped into the contractor gap in a huge way. Thanks Jim. We're on schedule to have dinner there for Thanksgiving...but set your expectations low so your not disappointed - it's a cabin after all.

| The drive up....yes Yogi and friends are almost always running ahead of us. They get let out at the gate below to let some energy out. |

| Most of the siding had to be replaced as it had rotted. And then there was the roof....yup, needed a new one of those too. |

| Pine paneling. How many men have told me, "You can't paint wood". Paint it! Paint it twice, three times. It was like being in a 70's wood box...plus putting wood on the floors. Yikes. |

| The bar area has been redeemed from a 70's vinyl funk bar. It makes a great place for setting food out for large parties and the kids loved using it as their restaurant. |

| Originally we were hoping to save the fridge but no one could figure out how to use it. So, a new propane fridge came out of the ever shrinking bank account. But it does look great...and it should last us for the life of the cabin. I love the open shelves - things get a bit dusty but it looks so good. |

| Bathroom is not done either, but it's coming. Trim and paint should do the job. But alas - the gray water from the kitchen sink backs up to the shower, which has no lip, and hence floods the floor. Friday I showed up to the cabin with 1/2" of water all over the kitchen, bath, hall, master bedroom floor. It had seeped under the laminate and now we get to replace a chunk of the laminate. :) |

| Looks nice even if it's not functional. The plumber put the toilet in, (it leaks and goes all over the floor) and the sink backs up into the shower. We have no idea where the water is supposed to go as it's not hooked up to the main sewer line....Oh the mystery of it all. |

| Used to be the old living room before they put on the new living area in '83. Interesting. Just getting the king bed out of there really helped clean things up a bit, but there's so much more to do. |

| The master is definitely not finished - the window behind the bed needs to sheetrocked in, the heater needs to be placed and area rugs are in order. The dogs come in the room early in the morning and we're not a fan of the "click, click, click" of the dogs nails on the laminate. |

(Update 12/2/12) Other than the flooding issue, the cabin is wonderful. It's so quiet and relaxing - and for the most part nothing much to do other than play. The water issue has actually brought to our attention the need for checklists. Is the main water off? Check. Is the propane off? Check. Is the house locked? Oops. I'll have to remedy that.
