Israel and Palestine April 2025

We arrived in Israel’s after a long fright from Seattle to Paris, Paris to Israel. We met our group of about 16 other hikers who were from all over the world. One of the beautiful parts of this trip is we hiked along side Palestinians, Israeli’s and North Americans. It was a trip designed by Young Life North Africa to raise campership funds for students from Israel and the West Bank to be able to go to camps. Not only were we raising funds, we were also building friendships with people and hearing stories. The first day we were introduced to middle eastern dining, which did not disappoint. Typically Arab meals start off with a plethora of small salads from beets, cabbage, corn and radishes, which you traditionally eat with bread and your hands. San Diego to Bend

Heading out of San Diego Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend we hit traffic through LA county. Remind me never to drive through LA on a holiday weekend. Oh my gosh. I’ve never seen so many people going both directions! It was crazy. And like Idaho, Montana, we can cross LA off of places I will ever live. Getting out of LA we headed towards Paso Robles to pick up our trailer. Due to unforeseen traffic delays, we got into Paso much later than we had anticipated, really close to dark. We were going to try out Harvest Hosts, which is a platform where winery’s and other businesses with space, allow RV’s to stay the night for free with the hope they’ll buy whatever they produce. Knowing we were going to be really late, we cancelled our reservation and pulled into a random RV park that turned out to be really nice. John Day and getting here

Another beautiful and long day of driving. We are attaining such a varied array of skills in this RV journey. From how to dump the sewer with new hoses to how to keep the contents of the cabinets from flying around during transit. We came into the trailer with a fresh scent of cumin - only to find the contents of a full jar sprinkled around two cabinets. Grateful for the built in vacuum in the trailer! The colors of Idaho were on full display on our way into Sun Valley. Aspens and conifers never fail to impress. With it being still a chilly 28 degrees, we skipped the idea of biking the valley and chose a nice walk with the dog instead. We drove into Ketchum, which is essentially Sun Valley as there is no town of Sun Valley, and had breakfast at a local favorite.
