The kids thought sunny skies meant warm waters…they were wrong. The lake is only 20' deep, so it will get warm, soon. Due to it's relative shallow depth, it also freezes in the winter and from what I hear you can go ice skating and play hockey on it. I'm looking forward to that! (And to getting some really warm clothing!)
The Strickler's from Oregon, Washington and Colorado all converged this past weekend in one spot - Disneyland! It was Michael and Brooklyn's birthdays and they wanted to celebrate in SoCal so we decided to join them. We had a great time and are looking forward to seeing them in July at Lindsey and Charlie's wedding in Colorado.
We picked up the newest toy last weekend and put it to good use. Boy, talk about a people magnet! Balin and I drove down to The Gorge and purchased the boat and brought it home, while our lovely, lovely neighbor Lindsey babysat the kids. When we got home, the UPS driver pulled up with a gigantic box, which was "The Paparazzi!". Perfect timing. We handed the box to Lindsey and her boyfriend Chip and asked them to "make it happen". Soon after the boat was launched we handed Chip the keys and said, "You're on - take the kids for the maiden voyage."
The boat is turning out to be super fun - with a VERY LOUD stereo system. :) I don't think we'll have problems meeting people this summer as it's super fun to have tons of kids on the boat, as well as adults.
Perrin was the first to get out and try wake boarding. Lindsey's mom Carmen asked if she wanted a wetsuit, "No" she said, but as soon as her booty hit that water she was wishing she had one.
Saturday I headed out to the farmer's market where many of the amazing local farms bring their produce weekly. The peonies alone made me happy to have moved. The kids got busy shucking corn as we were having a crowd come over for the day. So begins the summer.
