Our June rolled from coming home from New Orleans late Friday night, getting laundry done on Saturday and hitting the road on Sunday. We loaded up the bikes, clothes, food and headed out. We made it as far as Pinedale, WY where we stayed in a super cute hotel and had an amazing breakfast. We got back on the road and made it to Steamboat early the next day. It was an 18 hour trip.
It was fun to hang out with Susie, Michael, Lindsey, Charlie and the kids. Unfortunately Bailey had surgery for a torn ACL and their family wasn’t able to join. We missed them but had a great time none the less.
Steamboat was on our list of places we could possibly move to so we asked to have the reunion there, plus it was only 3 hours from Charlie and Lindsey. Steamboat did not disappoint. A cute town nestled at the base of a ski resort and along a river, the downtown had great spots for food and shopping. Grandma endeared herself to Perrin by buying her Lulu pants and a sweatshirt - the rest of us were satisfied with a margarita and some tacos.
Balin and I stayed back one day and sent Perrin and Sam with Lindsey and Charlie to go mountain biking. Nothing like biking at 6000’, Sam said he wanted to puke most of the way. I was glad to watch the kiddos that day.
Beautiful forests, a beautiful river, beautiful family…our week in Steamboat was really lovely. All that lovely came with a hefty price tag (except the family part) for housing in Steamboat! Balin and I both agreed that we are content for the current season to enjoy our little slice of PNW…
