John Day and getting here

Another beautiful and long day of driving.  We are attaining such a varied array of skills in this RV journey.  From how to dump the sewer with new hoses to how to keep the contents of the cabinets from flying around during transit.  We came into the trailer with a fresh scent of cumin - only to find the contents of a full jar sprinkled around two cabinets.  Grateful for the built in vacuum in the trailer!

The colors of Idaho were on full display on our way into Sun Valley.  Aspens and conifers never fail to impress.  With it being still a chilly 28 degrees, we skipped the idea of biking the valley and chose a nice walk with the dog instead.  We drove into Ketchum, which is essentially Sun Valley as there is no town of Sun Valley, and had breakfast at a local favorite.  A quick glance at Redfin for local real estate prices confirmed our suspicions that the area was far beyond our price range.

From Ketchum we started the long and pretty uninteresting drive to John Day, Oregon.  Boise and the surrounds failed to impress.  I’m thinking we can cross Idaho and Montana off the places for potential relocation.

Once off I-84, we twisted through river valleys and farm towns on our way to John Day.  A lovely surprise when we left the scrub lands of high desert and entered the Willowa-Whitman forest.  BREATHTAKING!  Just south of Walla Walla, we will for sure be back for further exploration.

We pulled into a charming state park on the John Day river just outside of town.  Surrounded by Cottonwoods and other varied deciduous trees, our campsite was exactly what we were looking for.  As we exited the car, it was like we were back in summer.  We threw our camp chairs down, cracked our drinks and took a minute to just be.  Shortly after we made camp and took a pleasant walk along the river.  A great travel day.
